Shanbo, one key is to have the pictures as files (e.g., .jpg or .bmp) with an internet url/address so when you put the url into your browser you see the picture immmediately (without a password request, etc.). Then you post the address in this thread. If you want the piicture to display immediately, there's a certain format/punctuation/command which you can figure out by quoting an existing message in this forum, a message which already has a picture. (Sorry for the incomplete info, I have complete notes at home, but I'm at Nationals.)

I wanted give everyone a heads up on what to bring... Make sure you bring shoes with thin soles. I will explain later, and don't worry it's not for Plyometrics so you will have to come and find out.

Also if you have a tent please bring it. There will be plenty of areas to set up to stay out of the sun during breaks.

I would also suggest in bringing a recovery drink to drink immediately after each session. I suggest Endurox R4, will explain why at the clinic... You can only train as hard as you recover... I will also take some time to go over essential recovery techniques the 1st session...

Shannon,

I'm pretty sure Olivia, Zach, and I are coming but I'm not sure if we'll be able to make it on the last day of this. I'll know as the week goes on about Sunday. I'm guessing I can just pay once I get there?

The weather is going to be clear clear and clear...

Looks like we are going to have plenty of sunshine for the training camp. Saturday is going to be pretty hot... Bring plenty of water!! I would also suggest a type of drink that has electrolytes in it. I recomend "NuuN." It comes in a tube that looks similar to that of "Airborn" container. NuuN comes in different flavors as well... I think this is the best thing on the market for hydration during workouts indoor and outdoor.

They look and work like Alka-Seltzers. You drop a tablet in your water bottle and it dissolves like an Alka-Seltzer. Wait 2+ minutes before drinking and can be taken throughout a workout. As you know water alone isn’t enough. There needs to be sodium so the water will be transported to the areas of the body that best needs it. It has Sodium (carbonates), Potassium (bicarbonate, Calcium (carbonate), Magnesium (sulfate), Vitamin C, and Vitamin B2. Here is an interesting fact about Bicarbonates, and Carbonates they are in most stomach antacids which means it will help lactic acid releasing as well and not build up as fast.

I have seen many skaters that drink types of Gatorades sport drinks at Clinics and going into the third day they can get dehydrated. Plus Gatorade has 30+ grams of suger in it. Nuun has the correct amounts of sodium needed to completely re-hydrate the body more effectively. However, if all you can get is Gatorade be sure to mix it with water...

You can get Nuun at most high performance bike shops... Zym is a similar product that works well too

I want to reiterate... this will not be your normal clinic. There will be a wealth of information given that you won't get at any other clinic. This information alone is worth the price of registration...

I hope to see you this week end at the EndurSpeed Training Camp

I just got the sound equipment for the training camp... Niice

And we will be there early Friday doing the final prep for the track. The track is really Niice... It has a similar coating on it that's on the bank tracks at worlds same color red too.

Another reminder If you have tents feel free to bring them. There will be plenty of space...

See you there...

Nuun is great, but it does not have calories which is one draw back. Heed is a very good drink as well and it has calories, and other important ingrediants of course, might be worth a look. Also, if you are just drinking gatorade and you are having issues trying to hydrate try a product called S-Caps. Basically it is a salt pill with a few other things added in, this will help your system absorb liquid better. I do long distance running as well as skate and we use all these all the time. I run distances up to 100 miles at a time so knowing your body and hydration is extremly important. Also, for recovery if you cant get Endurox, just go to your local grocery store and by Ensure plus. This is a great recovery drink and it has everything in it you need.

Guys...

Hydration is something that needs to be taken very seriously. If you are coming out this weekend, PLEASE be sure that you have enough water and recovery drinks with you. It is going to be hot out there! So, sunblock, a towel to wipe your sweat, sunglasses, extra tee-shirts and most importantly... DEODORANT! :D HAHA

I'm hoping to have a "cool off station" setup with a misting fan but that is no replacement for proper fluids. Don't be foolish! You need to keep your core temperature down. So, bring what your body needs. See you all there.

Accelerade is good for before and during a workout. Especialy if you are going to do any resistance training too. Its made by Pacific Health Labs whom also makes Endurox. Very good company. I will say some people stomach does respond differently to liquid proteins in certain drinks. For me Accelerade leaves me feeling beloated when I drink it rathers its 15mins before I workout or during a 30+ mile bike ride. Please understand that thats just how my body reacts. I know many bikers and skaters that use accelerade and I love Endurox R4 for recovery...

Sk8dog is right there are no calories in NuuN, however, it is one of the best drinks for getting the correct amounts of sodium.

I will be exploring this much further during the training camp. There are many types of brands and drinks that are out there that can help. I will say this if you are not properly hydrated before a hot workout its not going to matter what you drink during the workout.

Remember, you can only train as hard as you recover...

Shanbo, i still agree with you Nuun is a great drink i was just bring up alternatives incase people wanted choices. Nuun also has the added bonus of being easy to carry. As you said it is a tablet that you drop in your water bottle. If you are going on a long skate, bike or run you can just carry these tablets and when you fill your water bottles up you can just pop one in. Its much easier to find water when you are exercising but not always is it easy to find gatorade or sports drink. This is a very good topic you guys brought up. I dont think a lot of skaters take hydration and especially recovery drinks seriously. At indoor and outdoor nationals when you are racing for days in a row you need a recovery drink and i barely see anyone using them.

A quick note of thanks to those who made it up from the Southern Region and of course to Shannon for putting this training camp on in the first place. It was a hot weekend but everyone endured and did very well. I'm looking forward to doing it again (next time I'll put my skates on) :P

I really enjoyed coaching some of your skaters that came up for the training camp. I saw a lot of talent and a great mix of some very hard workers.

I'm glad they got a lot out of the training and the info that was shared. Hey Jim ask them how they like 2 potato chips

John we missed you... Hate that you couldn't make it...
