Alot of Coachs, Parents and Skaters have doing this sport for years, right? So or at least I think USARS also. They are or all Pros at it in some way other another wheather it would be skating, coaching or just doing their jobs. They say that this year would be 25 years in the making. Well, for Me and my Son, We have been attending Nationals for the last years. I was excited about going to Lincoln only because it was our first visit. Never been there before so I was looking forward to it. Well I was very disappointed the very first day. SUNDAY, lets talk about Sunday for a minute.. How crushing, disappointed and frusterated and not knowing that you would get up gawdly hour and get prepared as Skaters, Parents and Children for the day to come to the Pershing Center at 5:30 am on a rainy day mind you and your walking your little heiney off to get there. You come to the door and find a notes on the door to say PRACTICE had been CANCELLED due to floor issues. WTF! Now what? From what I thought or understand that is when you have a league meet, invitationals and or Nationals the rule at least I knew or could be wrong on the rule is that, you have to have the floor coated at least a week ahead right? Not 2 days before hand and hope and pray that the floor roll on would hold and cure it. Thats a shame. That floor was bubbling. Now they have to take time out of OUR schedules bust their ass to sand down and re roll the floor. And you wonder and wonder, if there is skating practices today. If there going to be heats or not. Now what? The way you find out is from what? Word from mouth, cell phones texts.. Oh yea not to mention FACEBOOK. WoW! what communication we have.. Thank GAWD for FACEBOOK.. I knew I could count on yea for communications. But almost everyone or every other race was DQs for some stupid unknown reasons just for an example. My Son is a Sr. Men was in a heat cant remember which one. But anyways, he and another Skater were DQ'd for some unknown reason that they had nothing to do with. It was someone else. So guess what, they had to take the time and rerun the heat AGAIN because of an Official error. Needless to say my Son didn't make out either time. :-( Just disappointing. http://www.koffeephoto.com/album/SyQP1BUoZmrJnLb-ipCe-a8a/

We all come early to give our kids time on this floor. To me the national floor is tricky. Some can skate it, many would benifit from extra time on it and this year this was limited. Wondering if next year our numbers will decrease in part due to this. Perhaps skaters next year should get a discount on entry fees. Or perhaps a free program..hehe On the other hand they proved they could squeeze nationals into 2 days.. Maybe soon 1.. Which is very sad. b. Edited by watchdogTiming 2010-07-12 10:29 AM | ||
